PUR AdhesivePolyurethane Reactive glue
PUR adhesive offers greater adhesion than EVA, making PUR binding an ideal method for products that will be used repeatedly, such as catalogues and trade show brochures. Page pull tests have shown that PUR can offer up to 60% increase in strength over EVA, essential when a product is to be handled frequently. It can also provide a solution for difficult paper types that can cause problems during the binding process.

EVA AdhesiveEthylene Vinyl Acetate glue
When it comes to curing, EVA has quicker set points than PUR, making its cure time significantly faster. PUR takes up to 24 hours to properly cure, but books bound with EVA can be pulled and inspected almost immediately after the glue is applied. EVA can be reheated to its melting point, eliminating wastes and allowing a quick setup time for a new job. However, this can also be a detriment as it causes the bond to fall apart when stored in a hot environment. And it is also highly prone to cracking in colder temperatures. PUR permanently bonds with the paper fibers on a molecular level, preventing melting and cracking issues. This stronger bond is more flexible than EVA, decreasing the amount of pulled pages by up to 70%.
